Delicate satin shoes hand painted with scrolls, flicks and dotted with diamantes.
Hand painting these shoes were a dream from start to finish.
From the design to applying the last diamante to the shoes it was a faultless process. I don't usually struggle painting shoes but sometimes.....just sometimes I get stuck and have to take a step back, have a cuppa with my admin manager, perhaps a sneaky biscuit and then get back to painting.
The satin fabric of the shoes was so delicate and the heels laden with glitter which carried through to the platform soul at the front was so fragile to touch yet I found myself painting them without any breaks. Even when the light vanished (natural light is better than artificial when it comes to intricacies of shoes) I was up at the crack of dawn to make the most of the light to paint these shoes.
Why? Because they are right up my street! The scroll and embellishments you see on the shoes come so natural to me I could paint them in my sleep. The flow of line reminds me of the tattoo designs I draw for my other company Gemma Kenward Illustrations. The addition hearts on the shoes gave a focal point for the silver and black lines to grow from along the sides of the bridal shoes.
I also used the diamantes to draw the eye along the shoes and to the back of the shoes where the wedding date is painted in scroll too.
