Art and Sole
I am often asked by customers what and where can I paint on the shoes. And my answer is 'anything and anywhere'. Painting stripes on the heel is a little trade mark of mine and I often do this when I have a very liberal brief from a bride.
When the brief is very specific (and it usually is), the bride is already comfortable with my style of painting. It isn't very often I have to sketch out a second set of roughs for a bride to approve which is great because I'm always itching to grab my paintbrush and get painting!
Just recently I have painted a pair of shoes for a bride who wanted a little piece of her late Grandmother with her on her big day. Her favorite flower was daffodils so I painted two small daffodils in the arch of the shoes on the sole. It was a reminder to me how personal the shoes can be and how important it is that you really do carry the heart and expression of love in the shoes if you chose to have them customized.
I also revel in painting Converse All Stars. There's something about the texture of the canvas that is great to paint on and the groom can also get involved and have a pair of their own.
